Every once in a while, a dog comes along who touches everyone he meets. Vinnie was just such a dog. Whether it was his amazing talents as a companion hunter, his work as a Therapy Dog, his sweet gentle demeanor with grandkids, or his happiness in greeting everyone, both human and canine...he was truly one who has forever left a mark in our lives.

You are gone Vinpup, but you are never to be forgotten.

Our deepest thanks to our friends and family who have called or written to give us support at this tough time. We have decided, in honor of Vin, to post some of those thoughts below. We will keep adding notes from those who knew Vinnie as we receive them.

I'm so sorry Carolyn. He was such a wonderful guy, have peace in knowing he had a wonderful long life with you and Bob. I bet Lucci was waiting for him to arrive, so he could swim out and get her toy for her :)
(Lisa Stumpf- MI)

Oh Carolyn. Bless your heart, I am so sorry. My heart aches for you.
I wish there was something I could say.
What you have done for dogs has assured your place in heaven, and there Vinnie will be waiting.
Big hug to you guys tonight, I am so, so, sorry.
Love,
Ed.

Oh Carolyn,
I am so sorry at your loss.  I will always remember Vinnie fondly, as will all who knew him. I am so glad also that he was able to enjoy the new property for a bit and that you could have him buried there. Give my sympathy also to Bob. Vinnie will certainly be remembered by all who met him as the sweetest Vizsla ever.
In sympathy and memory of the gentle Vinnie,
Heidi

I'm so sorry Carolyn.  I know what you mean, our dogs are such a big part of our hearts and it hurts so much to let them go.
He has not left though...I like to believe that they never leave us, they only change form.
Thinking of you...

P.S. Jeff met Vinnie at the bridge, and they are buddies already : )

"Sorry to hear about Vinny. He was a good dog and was lucky to have you as an owner. Most other people would have given up on the SA, but you got him through it and gave him a full life."

Carolyn,

I am so sorry to hear about Vinnie.  I know what an agonizing decision that must have been for you and your husband. Just the little I know of Vinnie, I know he had a very special part in your family, and he will always have a very special place in your heart.  May you find some comfort in this little saying that was given to me and in knowing that Vinnie now has his angel wings.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but openings in the heavens where the love of our lost
ones pours through and shines upon us to let us know they are happy. They are with
 us forever."

With my deepest sympathy,

Oh Carolyn,

i am very sorry to hear this.

It is always a hard way we must go if we must let one of our dears go some day.

Every one is a personality for its own.

There is nothing I can say. I am with you.

Dear Carolyn and Bob,

So sorry to hear about your loss of Vinnie. We personally know how hard it is to lose one of your four-legged companions. Over the years, we have found that they actually take a piece of your heart when they leave ... and nothing will ever fill that special place in your heart that was theirs.  May the wonderful memories of the time you shared together help to ease your pain.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to both of you.

Blessings,
Bill and Vicki

Dear Carolyn,

I am so sorry to hear about Vinnie's passing. He was a very special Vizsla and I am sure he left for the Dog Heaven. Please, accept our deepest sympathy and know we would love to be able ease your pain at this difficult time.

Some dogs enter our life for a good reason. They make us better human beings. I believe Vinnie was one of them.

We are so sorry, Vinnie truly was a wonderful member of your family.
He couldn't have had a more loving, fun home - I know his life was happy, he showed it in how affectionate and sweet he was to everyone.
You are both in our thoughts and hearts.

Oh Carolyn!

I'm so sorry to hear that!  When Sue lost Casey, we spent the next day putting together a photo album of his life with us.  There were a lot of tears but there were smiles and laughter, too.  Nothing can really take away the loss, but look at how many lives are the better for him having touched them.

My thoughts are with you and Bob.

Carolyn...I am very sorry to hear about Vinnie. I lost Homer a year
ago this week to Lymphosarcoma and it was so very hard.  But you
are right,  you keep them comfortable and spare them the worst. They
are never with you long enough.
(Claudia Beville-WA)

Hello Carolyn.....very, very sorry to hear about Vinnie today.  I was just talking to Bev this morning saying how Bertie and my 2 terriers are better critters than most people seem to be.  Losing Vinnie is a big loss, I am sure.  I am also sure that he loved you and had a great life with your family and all the wires.  I do believe it is not fair that dogs only live 15 years or so.  I would chose 40 or 50 years.  But I do not get to choose.   If you believe in heaven, then Vinnie is there running around with all the other dogs.  That is how I believe it is.  He will live in your heart forever.

My deepest sympathies.

(Kurt Zwar- WA)

Oh Carolyn, I can't tell you how my heart goes out to you and Bob-Vinnie was such a sweet guy-he was one of the best ambassadors for the breed that I have ever met.
Our thoughts and sympathy goes to you and the whole family.

HI Carolyn,
So Sorry to hear about Vinnie. I am sure a small piece of you went with him.

Carolyn and Bob my condolences, he WAS a very special dog and he will be greatly missed but never forgotten! I still keep a Christmas card on my fridge and smile daily. Maxim has lost a friend and I believe a half brother -- although I referred to Vinnie as "your cousin Vinnie" from the movie!

I will never forget orientation day at my first of many training classes when I was greeted by Vinnie the Vizsla, who had a huge bark and was much larger than the dog I had purchased! It only took minutes and several kisses for me to fall in love. I have been smitten ever since! You offered Vinnie a charmed life, he was blessed and we were blessed to know him. Thank you for sharing such a "cool" dog with so many people, he truly was one of a kind!

Because of Vinnie (Carl and the other Vizsla's) our path's crossed and a friendship was formed, that's my lasting legacy to Vinnie!

My thoughts are with you. Much love! xoxox

(Karen M. Koziel-MI)

Carolyn and Bob,

How sorry we are to hear of Vinnie's passing.  Vinnie could not have had a better home and life, all dogs should be so lucky.
Vinnie was the Ambassador for our pups upon their introduction to the canine pack, and we're glad he was there for them.
Vinnie touch many hearts and will surely missed by all who had the pleasure of his company.  We're so sorry.

(Jeff & Christine Kerr-MI)

Dear Carole and Bob,
I'm really sorry to hear about your sweet old Vinnie. I know that he was so loved and I'm sure he knew that too. He couldnt have had a better life, I am certain...you know he'll always be your buddy.
Love, Nance

I am so sorry to hear about Vinnie we always dread the day that things like that happen, but you and I know he had a great life and was loved and spoiled his whole life.  The one thing I tell myself when something like that happens it leaves room to save another dog and let them have a turn with great owners.  I know it won't be easy just remember how happy he was and that he didn't have to suffer.  Take care each day gets a little easier.

(Kim Wagner-MI)

Hi Carole

Terrible loss to lose your dog, I know how I felt after 15 years with my Tessy and I still miss her, she died around 10 years ago and it's as if she died yesterday.  So my thoughts are with you.
Lots of love

Carolyn and Bob,
I feel so sad for your loss. It doesn't matter how many you have. Each one gone is such a heartache, an empty bed and an empty dish. I am glad you have so many good memories of him. Time can take away the pain, but those memories last forever!

carolyn and bob this is very sad
i do not know what can be said to comfort

he was a lucky guy indeed.
but really,
it is we who are so lucky to be able to share our lives
with these dear creatures
even if for a short time
trying to give them a fraction of what they give to us.

we are touched by your
passion and compassion
and all that you accomplish for the happiness of our canine friends.

Oh carolyn, I am so sorry to hear the sad news. Please remember that you did him a great kindness by putting him out of his pain. Its so hard to make decisions like this. As you know, I know how sad you must feel to lose a great friend. You should also know that your relationship with vinnie is what led to the rest of us lucky vidor owners! Thank you, bob and vinnie for that. Bela says hi, and we all hope that your new place brings you all much joy.

Best wishes for a joyful spring

Jody, Bob (mine) and Bela!

(Jody Brackman- NY)

Dear Carolyn and Bob,
I am so sorry to hear about Vinnie. He was such a sweet dog. I could always count on him to run up to me and give a little chin kiss every time I saw him! It seems that I had know him for so long! I believe I met him the 1st day I met you Carolyn, at Petsmart in the Summer of 2001 when I began training under you as a dog trainer. He was such a gentle dog and I know how much he loved going with you to visits to Children's Hospital and nursing homes as well as the trips out on the pontoon boat and romps though fields! You gave him a wonderful life! I will miss him!
    Love,
       Laura
(Laura Rescoe- MI)

I am sorry to hear about your loss.  With all the kind words that have been said about Vinnie I can tell he touched many people.  I am happy he brought you and everyone so much joy.

Wonderful memories.  They will stay with you forever.
